Disabled ID Card
Situation
We were approached by our client, Digital House Ltd to create a completely custom website to provide an application form and management of a Disabled ID Card processing website for disabled individuals – especially for those whose disability is not immediately obvious.
The card would prove that the holder is entitled to a concessionary rate, and removes the holder’s need to carry their paperwork around with them to prove entitlement.
What we did – Client Meetings
We worked through face-to-face meetings with our client, Digital House, and the owner of the Disabled ID Card website
What we did – Website Development
We adapted the design created by Digital House into a PHP based website, designed, and created a mySQL database and added AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) to dynamically upload photos and entitlement documents.
The owner of the Disabled ID Card website subsequently moved away from the area and utilised the services of another web design company – InfoTex. We adapted the site to work within the new WordPress design created by InfoTex, and continue to support it.
Technical information
The web design was converted into a PHP based website with a mySQL database incorporating dynamic Javascript and jQuery to upload and display photos and documents.
The website provides facilities to download a paper-printable PDF application form (also with a large format text version), as well as the ability to download a list of applicants for whom cards need to be printed.
Working with Infotex and Digital House, the existing website has been adapted to link with WordPress, with a view to it becoming a full WordPress plugin in the future.
